I will cherish these mornings where I have ample time to do my hair, mosey around the kitchen, until finally leaving the house to "start" my day. I absolutely love low-budget outfits... especially when it all seems to work together. Also, who doesn't love the golden hour. On a separate note, there are just a few days left 'till graduation, and I realized I don't really have anything to wear... And, are they serious? no heels?

While I don't technically call this "freedom" just yet, the time from now until I start studying for the bar comes pretty close in comparison to last week. I snagged these shorts at the Urban Outfitters sample sale a few weeks back... I love a good printed bottom. It's just with printed tops that I struggle with. My sister is flying in from NYC this weekend... I can't wait~ Time for quality time. Also translated to going to the spa and getting my hair did.

I have 3 more to go, until freedom...for a week. This loose fit top is conducive to studying. Numerous hours of sitting, reading, and memorizing without worrying a dash of uncomfortable-ness. No worries about having to suck in, getting too hot, showing anything unnecessary, and still looking presentable (well, as presentable as you can be during finals).

It's finally over! I just finished my last class of law school. Now for manic studying to prepare for finals (4 in a row). I don't know what's going on with this gloomy weather, but it better get hot quick... I consider this practically summer. We are getting those bouts of warm weather. Of course, the chilly days in between are unavoidable. But either way, the sunny days makes walking to the farmer's market all the more enjoyable... even if I have to wear a sweater. Oh, and this scarf was another one of the finds from the UO sample sale. This scarf was the last grab, and totally worth it. Unfortunately, from here on out until mid May, I will be anxiously studying for finals. I'm finally done guys. Finally. Can't wait until graduation.

The infamous blue and sunny skies of southern California manages to forgive the unsightly view of random parked cars. I had the patience this morning to pull out a french braid circling my head. I feel the wrath of finals inching closer and the bar for that matter... and hope that no other stressful events reveals itself in the next few weeks... or few months for that matter. I grabbed this top at the Urban Outfitters sample sale... everything was $5. Of course, the real price paid for the items I found was an hour of waiting in a thunderstorm while trying to keep from getting wet under my umbrella. I still don't know if it was worth it.
Today's thought of the day: Taking a deep examination of those who you know really care about you. There are only a few who truly care and will be there for you no matter what. literally. What have you done to show that you appreciate them? Or do you take them for granted?

With the preferable weather outlook (I sound like an old British lady, with all this weather talk), I finally got to wear these awesome shorts I found from LF Stores. While they were a size too big, I had to have them... and found I like them slightly slung off my hips anyway. I decided the front steps of the bf's new apt is probably going to be a common backdrop in future posts. This buttoned shirt from F21 is probably years old... don't you love items that really never go out of style?

As one of the main items I was looking forward to in my package from Korea, this trench really didn't disappoint. The fit (obviously made for Asian girls) was perfect...and the floppy front gives it that extra touch. I freely wore these heels when it was sunny enough a few days ago. I always get compliments every time I wear them. I'm super bummed to see that my AccuWeather was right.. it is raining today. I have my law school prom today... which means having to avoid puddles in my pumps and hoping my hair doesn't get too flat from getting wet. (still haven't decided what I'm wearing... just sure about the hair and shoes) I'm so happy to be almost done.

I was beyond excited to get my shipment from Korea... It came wayyy sooner than expected, despite the customs papers the bf's brother had to fill out. I love simple loose fit sweaters, as usual. Obviously, there was one of those in my order. The polka-dots on the shoulder were so cutesy I couldn't resist. And at only $10, who really can? I also got a few other things, which will probably get posted soon enough. I dug out these jeans from my closet, just before they got pushed too much to the back and forgotten... I love CarMar! They have the perfect amount of stretch, while avoiding a "leggings" look, which hugs in all the right places while keeping its shape. Slimming and lengthening. Oh, and I finally got a picture with the Easter Bunny!

Slightly embarrassingly enough, I've fallen in love with this sweater that has the tendency of being a bit overly cute and fobby. But the stripe detail on the sleeves, wide cut neckline, and the obvious embroidered fox drew me in. I love having simple sweaters that I can wear with jeans for those 70 something degree days where wearing a jacket just doesn't work. After spending the majority of my weekend doing my own rendition of P90x, aka helping the bf move, he's finally settled in, complete with electricity. I can now be enthusiastic for exploring the little shops in Silver Lake within walking distance without being hindered by the thought of having to find parking just to take a peek. On an equally exciting note, my mom finally got a smart phone... time to teach her the joys of extensive kakao emoticons.

I've finally obliterated the last of my cold after crazily dosing up on my vitamin C intake. I had one of those days where you just needed some fresh air despite the runny nose and sinus headache. Hence, I dressed warmly, put on some acceptable sweats (which I found also in black!), donned a scarf, and headed over to Jack and Jills for a really late brunch. After a sip of the most excellent English Breakfast tea latte, I was satisfied in submitting back to the indoors and took a nap. I've recently gotten into Pinterest (yes, I'm a tad late)... check it out on pinterest.com/danceinmycloset, when my blog fails to entertain.

Cerulean Dress

It's been hectic. And I think for the first time, in a realllllly long time, Airborne and Zicam has failed me. I'm sick. I'm just glad that my midterms are over. After taking multiple second looks at this dress, the sale price of $14.99 finally convinced me. The dropwaist length is not as unflattering as I was afraid it would be and the color is actually...amazing.
Additionally, I was able to get some photos of my nails before they overly chipped. It's super easy! I just got a skinny nail brush and tapped the length side of it onto my nail to create little notches in a chevron pattern. You don't have to actually "draw" the lines. Otherwise, my right hand would look like a total mess.

As previously mentioned, this velvet blazer is years old. Every time I wear it, my mom manages to snicker and alludes to how I hated wearing it to every orchestra performance, piano recital, choir event, etc. when I was in grade school. It was the go-to jacket which she made me put on over my otherwise "too cold for outside" dress. At that time, the jacket probably looked a little overly 80's on my small frame. For some reason, I find it difficult to wear a peplum top without pairing it with a pencil skirt. However, worn under the blazer, it seemed to work with my jeans. Is it just me, or do H&M jeans never lose their stretch despite a million washes in the laundry?
Additionally, I decided to cut another one of my maxi dresses to create the side slit rather than to continue searching for one. It was hard to walk in anyway. My maxi dresses tend to have a short closet-life. They've since become calf-length, hi-low, and now with a slit (coming soon).

I found this shapeless yet comfy dress at Lacoste when we stopped by the outlet on our way back from Palm Springs. Right when I had given up hope in finding anything worth buying, this random dress caught my eye. It's a mix pajamas and tennis outfit, both of which have always been appealing (despite private tennis lessons, I had to give it up before I ever got to wear a cute tennis skirt on the court). As always, these Forever 21 shoes are the perfect go-to pair for any outfit... they've gotten pretty dirty, but I haven't figured out what they're exactly made of to find a plausible way to clean them. I'm so close to spring break I can taste it. If I can just put my mind to studying for tomorrow's midterm...I'd be in the clear. I've had the Oscar's on my tv in the background the past few hours... but realized I haven't seen a single movie besides Moneyball. Maybe I'll catch up on such current events during my break...Apparently I need to watch The Artist with all those wins.

This photo was taken near Mendocino Farms right before I scarfed down my lunch. My weekend trip to Palm Springs was laughter-filled to say the least. After soaking in the jacuzzi and swimming in an endlessly large heated pool, and laying in face masks with literally everyone in the family, we hit the casino to hopefully gain some funds for outlet shopping the next day. While my luck wasn't too great with slots, I had my first taste of making some money with blackjack. Unfortunately, the outlet didn't have anything that really caught my eye minus a simple sweater. All in all, I realized how much fun I have with my cousins/family and can't wait for next year.

From time to time, I score a really great piece for an even unbelievable price at the Gap. Those times that I randomly decide to go in, never disappoints. This blouse has a soft houndstooth print throughout (which i love) and a pocket and color trim which give it a pajama top vibe. I don't usually find that pajama look appealing, but for some reason I was drawn to this. Vegas was busy... with lots of walking and browsing, which is basically one of the top things on my list of favorite things to do. As long as plans stay intact, I will be going to Palm Springs with family for some bonding, relaxing, and soaking in mineral water. And knowing my aunts, we will be stopping by the outlets. No doubt.

I love my new satchel from Zara! The width perfection allows me to actually put stuff in it without causing misshapen lumps. Sometimes looking through my closet makes me realize more and more that I don't have a particular style. But I think that's mainly what I love about getting dressed in the morning. Whatever I feel like that day...an edgy look, feminine look, tomboyish, etc. This usually deters a strong group of blog followers because I'm all over the place. However, I abandoned fitting into a specific genre of style a long time ago...which is, in actuality, more me.

I am not a floral wearer. But for some reason, there are a minuscule occasions where I feel obliged to purchase a botanical print. This knit dress is so cozy I can sleep in it. Additionally, I'm kinda obsessed with my new blinged-out watch. Who knew I'd be attracted to a rhinestone studded face? Also, a current photo of my nails with the random Revlon bottle I got at Rite Aid. It went perfectly with my OPI Looks Like Rain Dear! On a side note, I just finished a book, Middlesex, by Jeffrey Eugenides. Considering the fact that I look forward to grabbing it after a long day of studying just goes to show that I highly recommend it. Now for some new literature to cuddle with... any suggestions?

I finally got that ~~haircut~~ trim over the weekend. I "celebrated" superbowl sunday by making delicious sliders... all for under $15 from Trader Joes. I'm so proud of myself, I'll post some photos soon. While I'm not one to really watch sports, the commercials were entertaining enough to leave the tv on while I ready for class. This top from Line&Dot is super comfy... with a soft texture and dolman design. Got it at the sample sale a few weeks back. Excited to go Vegas this weekend, even though it's only for one night. S/S 2012 styles to browse through!

Surprisingly, the bf didn't put up a fight when I suggested a plethora of daytime activities which included going to Ikea and the Americana. What a sport, huh?! I didn't find anything in particular, apart from a new nail polish in neon while scarfing down some Rite Aid ice cream and a colorful set up stairs at Madewell. Additionally, walking around in these Isabel Marant inspired ankle boots ($15!) made it even more pleasant. That much comfy and cuteness in a pair of shoes is as satisfying as the swedish meatballs at Ikea. While I have nothing planned for this weekend, I think a haircut is definitely on the roster. The length and shag it has gone beyond manageable.

After seeing Mendocino Farms topping the Yelp list on numerous occasions, the stars must have aligned and provided the perfect opportunity. They're only open on the weekdays (downtown locations), during a small window around lunch time, which makes it kinda impossible to go. Parking is a whole other story. The sandwiches were sure delish and the tomato soup just hit the spot. I needed a new cardigan/sweater, more for warmth than anything else, which would be easy to just throw on for school. While this particular sweater wasn't exactly what I had in mind, it actually worked out perfectly in hindsight.

Also, the photo of my nails were taken a few days post polish... so please excuse the not-so-perfect edges. My bf saw them and immediately said they looked like tuxedos. That led to other ideas that I might do later. This nail design is one of the simplest ones to do and can add a punch with using very contrasting and bright colors. Simply paint diagonally one edge, and then the other. Also, a hint for removing extremely stubborn glitter nail polish (like the Looks Like Rain, Dear): take cotton pads and wet them with nail polish remover. Then, cover (wrap) your nails with the cotton pad for about 30 seconds... that should loosen up the nail polish enough to easily remove!
