Black on Black

Esley Collection vest | DIY high low dress | Jessica Simpson ankle boots

I've actually gotten multiple compliments on this make-shift high low dress that was created late night tv front. Super easy to do... and so easy to wear. I apologize for the rather unnatural and pose-y photos. And numerous thanks to Esley Collection for this fab vest that I've been unconsciously needing in my wardrobe. Already booked a red-eye flight to NYC~ I can't wait. Hopefully the hurricane and its aftermath will have subsided in the next few weeks.

Gone Gone

my sister

My sister has officially left for a new and exciting few years in NYC. Which means, I'm left with dragging the bf around for shopping and other extraneous adventures that he'll be whining about. Due the recent Hurricane Irene quickly approaching New York, all flights were looking to be cancelled for the next several days. Thus, in order to avoid missing her orientation at Columbia, we had to make-shift pack her stuff with just whatever was necessary and send her off on the next available flight. Hopefully I'll be able to take the rest of her stuff if I get a chance to go to NYC soon! Anyway, I'm going to miss her sooooooooo much. <3 <3 <3

White and Blue

F21 shorts and shirt | Madewell tank | Zara boots

Had a very jam-packed schedule this past weekend. I stood in as a model for a friend, Alex, who wanted to practice his photography skills... and went to Vegas for a trade show. Hopefully the photos at Gise's fab house comes out okay! I'll post pictures as soon as they become available. Vegas was unbelieveably hot at a pretty constant startling 108 degrees. We just stayed one night... most of which was spent at the convention center. I got my nails done for free! Minx! They were complimentary at the trade show if you're willing to wait on a rather extensive list. They last for over 2-3 weeks as long as you're not a picker, scratcher, or dish-washer. These are very similar to the Sally Hansen Effects which you can do at home for a fraction of the cost.
Get yours Minx nails done by looking for a location here.

Student Life

UO cardigan | American Eagle te-shirt | Clarks boat shoes

I guess sometimes it's true when guys say "I love how my girfriend/wife looks without makeup and just wearing sweats." I would have to agree that seeing a girl working a completely simple and laid-back look is definitely inspiring. That minimalistic yet fresh style. Thus, I donned my own white-t and jeans to kick off the bleary school year, but hopefully balanced out with a surplus of good times. I will be attending the Magic trade show again in Vegas...so I'm stoked to see some new styles for Fall/Winter.

For Whoever

H&M jacket | F21 tank and sunglasses | Joe's Jeans shorts | Zara boots

School is creeping in. But rather than thinking about books and such, I've been concentrated on other unworldly things. Haha. I've also been pondering on who or what my blog is catered to or for. Or the reason for a blog in itself. The conclusion was that I cater to myself really. I'm not here to try to be a supermodel. Not that that is even a possiblity. Nor do I expect people to think I'm so fabulous. But yes, I post pictures that I like of myself... things that I like to do... my nails...hair... places I go. Just cuz. I guess I never REALLY thought of who my audience would be accommodating to. I just posted and took photos of what I like. Is that so disgustingly narcissistic? Maybe. Possibly. I should probably just post more tips, tools, etc. Those are probably the blogs I read most often. Something more engaging? Time to revamp danceinmycloset? Perhaps. Hope you like.

Btw, love this crochet top!
In addition, Missoni making its way into Target has been talked about for months now - coming Sept 13. But they just released a sneak peek! I don't know if the whole zigzag chevron is my thing though. But for those who like Missoni, prices start at $9.99!

Also, I've been enthralled with photoshop lately... I'm literally amazed at the plethora of ideas that people came up with to distort/enhance/recreate etc. photos. Will post some practice ones soon!

Sisters

ArynK shorts | F21 ankle boots

Shopping is best with my sister. Thus, we spent some quality time in Santa Monica this past weekend. I'm definitely going to miss her when she goes to NY. She never complains about wanting to leave or that she's tired, unlike the bf. Additionally, she's the honest voice when deciding whether or not to purchase. Obviously, I don't have any brother to compare with...but after a general observation of the brother filled world, but sisters are the way to go. All the hours of messing around with their hair...painting their nails...borrowing each other's clothes against our will...and always having a buddy to go to Korean saunas with, just can't be beat. At the risk of sounding cliche and semi-sappy, the list is seriously endless. Anyway, I'll stop here on the sisters before I boost their egos a little too much. Check out their fabulous blogs. Carapacer and Grange Escape.

Scissor Happy

DIY dress | UO tank | Ash wedge shoes

I'm excited to annouce that my other sister also started a blog! Check it out here. Just a random journal of her simplistic contemplations. So reflective of her personality.
In a failed attempt of trying to find something to wear, haha, I took a maxi dress that was a bit too short on me and cut it into a new one! I simply cut a half circle off the front after laying it flat, and then just rounded the back hem. Super comfy, and now this dress isn't just sitting in the bottom of a drawer. Unfortunately, this project was done late in the evening while watching tv (like all my other projects)... and thus has a very raw and jagged hem. But, I didn't mind too much... and left it as is.

Nail Tutorial - Mint and Gold

It's Friday! My nails currently resemble the picture posted above. I call it the FourSquare. I apologize for the unclean cuticle edges and not so straight lines. This was harder than I thought it would be... but after starting, it was too painful to decide to erase everything and start over. I simply took pieces of tape...and cut them to create a perfect 90degree edge. then I taped them onto my nails diagonal to each other. Then I painted the exposed areas with one color. Let dry. Then peeled off the tape and did the same for the other color. The fingers that didn't turn out well, I erased and created a half/half version. You know, to mix it up a bit.

Brick and Bargains

Joe's jeans shorts | Gap blouse | F21 ankle boots | Swarovski necklace (gift from aunt)

Can't believe it's already Wednesday. It's incredibly surprising at how quickly the summer is moving past. I start school in 2 weeks... and have still yet to hit the beach this year. I'm hoping to finally go hiking this coming Saturday. Who wants to join? I'll have to pray that it isn't blazing hot the whole way through.
I love finding bargains. Who doesn't right? But I fell in love with this Gap blouse that I got a while back.. for only $11. To top it off, I found these perfect for anything ankle boots for $6.99! Sometimes, it's hard to beat F21, as much as I want to resist it.
P.S. I'm jealous of all ya'll NYC folks browsing the Alexander Wang sample sale. Sigh.

Testing Lights

Diy cut off shorts | H&M pinstripe cami and belt | Banana Republic blazer
Just enjoying my summer. The bf wanted to test out some different angles for the flash on his camera... I look slightly upset in these photos now that I re-look at them... but I'm pretty sure that wasn't the case. I spent Friday night celebrating a friend's birthday. We had dinner at La Paella, then bowling (had to buy vending machine socks), and ended up at a bar to finish the night. I'm excited to go to Ojai to do some relaxing with them in a few weeks~ right before school starts up again...
