breezy day at the pier

jacket, H&M; sunglasses, Juicy; chain purse, Zara; scarf, vintage

It was a breezy with sporadic glimpses of sun  kind of day. It had been a while since I stepped foot on the wooden planks of the good ol' touristy spot called santa monica pier. It was spring break. Though attempting to be a tour guide, I found myself just as immersed in the scenery like those who were simply visiting los angeles. Although the photo fails to portray the bunch of other people gawking at the pelican sighting, I promise I wasn't the only one insisting on a picture while wildly pointing to it. The visit was brief considering the weather, and after enjoying a beer at the mexican place located at the end of the pier, we were ready to leave. The scarf was forced upon me, after allegations that I wasn't dressed warmly enough... and actually it did help keep me warm when the wind decided to get a little stronger. I did end up going to manhattan beach the following weekend and actually layed out on the sand for a while... though it was still too chilly to fully enjoy it. Pictures soon to come. I can't wait till summer.

Food Court and Alice

top, f21; shorts, target; fishnets, topshop; socks, UO; belt, gap

I took a change in scenery and upon suggestion, decided to navigate my way to century city plaza to watch Alice in Wonderland. Arriving a bit late, most the stores were closed, but the food court was quite impressive. Equipped with a hand wash station, and everything from bourgeouis variations of thai and panda express to alcohol. We opted for "take a bao"; panang noodles, chilled chicken peanut noodles, spicy sweet potato fries, and a nice glass of wine... filling and yummy. Then we headed over for the movie. In IMAX and 3d, hence the special funky glasses. Slightly heavy on my nose and ears, but the effects they produced were amazing and images absolutely gorgeous. It was fun, but it was def a kid movie... I know I'm not THAT mature... but still. hahaha.

'Tis the Lenten Season

top, primark; pants, f21

Driving at night, my old private school captured my attention. Being lent and all, I though a post including a pretty catholic church was fitting. I got the bf to pull over, and attempt some make-do photos with the eerie light from the lamp with his crackberry (hence the grainy photos) I remembered donning the plaid jumper through third grade, while eagerly waiting to wear the classic plaid skirt with white button down blouse uniform starting 4th grade... unfortunately, i moved, changed schools, and never got the chance. This t-shirt caught my eye when i was in london last year, and primark prices just rock my socks... especially when having to pay in pounds. my spring break is officially over... and unfortunately, i didnt get to post as much as i wanted... bummer. another bummer, losing an hour of sleep. Hopefully the warmer weather will bring more inspirational outdoor posts. happy spring.

Vegan Food Tastes Good

jacket, Levis

In light of attempting to eat healthy and respecting a lenten friday (thus no meat) we decided to give a test run to this vegan joint in silver lake... after reading loads of different reviews for vegetarian places in la, the overload of positive reviews on yelp <3 made Cru the winning choice. Much to my surprise, there was already a bunch of people waiting outside for a table... so as we joined the crowd on the narrow sidewalk, i snagged a seat at this cool checkerboard table (which actually belongs to the deli next door) and induced the bf to take a picture. The food was pretty good. we got the risotto and linguini... all totally vegan and raw. It tasted different from how it looked, (because I'm used to the texture that you would expect when ordering such items somewhere else) it was really yummy. Though the portions were a bit smaller considering the cost, it was worth a try and we certainly felt healthy walking out and glad that we weren't suffering from extreme food coma like we always do. In the end, I just really liked that checkerboard table. Oh the little things you discover in silver lake. no wonder all the cool kids live there. hahaha.
