Stress + Impulse Decisions = Purple

jacket, Levis; tights, See You Monday; tops, UO; shoes, Korea

After a grueling memorandum paper, I headed over to get my weekend started. I wanted to get some good shots of the clouds hovering in the sky, promising rain... which they delivered. After stressing over a variety of some necessary and unnecessary things, I decided to dye my hair... for the first time. I followed the bf to get his haircut, and it ended with him waiting for me to finish getting my hair bleached and dyed. Though I was hoping to attain the essence of having my hair dipped in grape soda purple, it turned out to be more like hawaiian punch. But I love the way it came out, and pleasantly surprised and glad that it doesn't look like dry tangled straw at the ends of my hair after all the chemicals it endured. Although, after several washes, the color has been getting more and more vibrant. Funnnnnn. Less than two weeks 'till spring break!

We are the World 2010

jacket, Zara

The  iconic song written by yours truly michael jackson and lionel richie has resurfaced with a remake for the victims in haiti. Though originally made back in 1985 to fight famine in Africa, the recent tragedy in haiti convinced richie that a revisit to the song was necessary. i love how this tribute still brings the heart of michael jackson (the only artist from the original that appears on the remake) and actually brings a warm feeling when hearing his voice put into the new version. The collaboration of artists is remarkable, bringing everyone from wyclef, celine dion, pink, usher, snoop dogg to members of the beach boys... the infusion of rap was perfectly done and trying to guess the voice to the artist is only half the fun of listening to the song on repeat. Go download on itunes or watch it here on youtube. r.i.p. michael jackson. 25 for Haiti. xoxo

Gotta Love Eighty Degree Weekends in February

top and boots, LF stores; tights, Hue

Though I never end up buying anything on Melrose, looking into store windows and people watching while strolling along the sidewalk is pretty fun in itself. Combine that with the jealousy creating southern california weather we experienced this weekend, and I'm more than happy. I luckily found the top and boots at a sample sale...and the compliments I've gotten on the boots have been endless everytime I wear them. The bf had sent me a photo text message several weeks ago when he stumbled upon the drawing of michael, but I didn't realize it was part of an exceptional triple collection. I  had to take a photo with the blatant talent that completely captured my attention. If by strange chance someone happens to know the artist, I would love to see more. By this time, my motivation to study has gone from dwindling to absent. It has resulted in more studio pictures during my study breaks...and slowly counting down to spring break.

Another day at the Grove means crepes

top, free people; sunglasses, YSL

Despite the downpour on friday night, my friends and I made it safely through the endless rainy la traffic to santa monica for dineLA at Ocean and Vine at the Loews hotel. Though the food was good, the dim lighting was unfavorable to the photos I attempted to take. Some pictures of the food survived which I will post soon. The weather allowed for outside endeavors and through a spur of the moment food frenzy craving, we made it to the farmer's market at the grove for crepes and tacos at loteria. Both are a must. They are in such close proximity to each other that it is impossible to eat at one place and not the other. As you can tell, even after the tacos, I managed to lick my plate clean of the nutella, banana, and farmer's cheese crepe. Triple yum. I felt that the free people top is so versatile... yet didn't realize that the open shoulders really do affect the warmth that you get from a regular long sleeve top. hahaha. And after an unfortunate incident involving breaking my car window and taking my almost empty purse, this is the last picture I have in memory of my sunglasses and my bag.

Take My Order Cuz Your Body's Like a Carry Out

top, primark; leggings, see you monday

my expectations were far exceeded when the timbaland concert that I bought tickets for ended up to be a star-studded surprise. I didn't realize how buff he was and curious about the capacities/functions of the snazzy headphones. Though Timbaland obviously collaborates with a variety of different artists, having Drake, the Game, Keri Hilson, Brandy... and especially JT was clearly unexpected. I also couldn't get over how hot brandy looked in her leather bodysuit. It may be because Timbaland has that much influence, or the fact that we're in la, or the convenience of having the grammys just 2 days away that brought all of them there. Either way, it was a blast and gave all of us something to talk about afterwards. There were videos taken of singing, rapping, dancing, and making of beats... all of which may be posted... but at the going rate of video posting... i'll just have to see. Anyway, the top I decided to wear from primark (<3 london) is so flattering and the material is an interesting mix between chiffon and linen.. can't figure it out. The leggings are from see you monday... which carries a plethora of leggings that goes above and beyond your imagination of what can be transferred into leggings. These are obviously the more modest and normal pair. I can't wait for grubbing tomorrow for dineLA with the girls. It's gonna be mouth wateringly delicious. I can predict it.
