Video Shoot Sneak Peek

clothing, ark&co

here are some video screen captures from a lookbook for ark&co... the spring collection is maybe not totally my style.. but definitely feminine and cute~ I'll see if I can post the actual video, or at least clips from it, after I make sure it's not going to lag when people open it... I'm anticipating some fun this weekend, so I'm really excited for the posts coming up. I just hope I'll be able to sneak a camera into a concert tonight, and I won't forget to take photos of the food I'm planning on eating before it gets shoved down my throat. oh, and shopping is definitely on the schedule...
have a good weekend.

Have the rainy days passed?

top; f21; jacket, vintage Evan Piccone

There is something inherently soothing about driving with snow-capped mountains as a backdrop in southern california... it makes the gallons of rain that poured down last week somewhat forgiveable. I rarely get the opportunity to actually tread the sidewalks of downtown la, apart from walking the few feet from the car to a random bar. But the wide red-brick sidewalk and random obstructions of "art" combined with the city lights provided a photo-worthy landscape. I'm sure the snow has overpopulated the slopes, and despite the fact that I haven't gone boarding this season, I'm actually looking more forward to spring rolling around... I'm so glad that this jacket survived all the closet spring cleanings that have occurred since it was acquired back in grade school. I'm sure I wasn't a huge fan of it back then when my mom thought it was cute to wear to church, but now I guess I have actually grown into it and the cut is suddenly flattering. I hope to have more pics coming soon from the brunch this past weekend with the girls and the festivities to come. hurray!

Transfer Tattoos by Chanel

images by: style.com

Though I'm not someone who actively seeks the latest items from chanel... i can't deny the slight obsession i have with transfer tattoos, henna, and the like. I'm somewhat chicken to take the steps to permanently ink my body. So imagine the way my eyes lit up when i saw these images for the spring 2010 Chanel collection... I immediately had to know if these tattoos were haveable and I HAD to blog about my discovery. The exciting news is that they are... but in europe...in march. About 55 tattos for 45pounds (about $78). Considering that I'm more than willing to place 4 quarters in one of those old school machines to get one of those roses or butterflys (you know what I'm talking about), the price for these are clearly worth it. I MUST WILL get my hands on these.. so look for them in my future posts.

Rainy MLK Monday

pants, F21; boots, Jessica Simpson; top, UO

I spent the MLK holiday reading for class... but not in a negative whining kind of way. The rain somehow made it more enjoyable to sit inside, open my book, sip my coffee, and enjoy a crossaint. Apparently the rain is supposed to last until wednesday, which means snow on the mountaintops and a free carwash for all. I took a break from reading and suggested taking some photos in the rain to document signs of "winter" in southern california. I got wet regardless of the umbrella but I guess it was inevitable. I don't usually wear print but recently felt that I could spice up my closet a bit and purchased the silky top from Urban Outfitters... And the pants are the perfect mix of fit and comfort, for a steal of course, at forever21. So, today's post is dedicated to MLK "I Have a Dream" and the seldom occurring rainy weather. happy monday.

Back to Library Hours

tights, Primark; cardigan, UO; mini dress, H&M

Waking up for the long commute... and then recognizing the lingering scent of manure stir my nostrils as I get out of my car at school came all too quickly. I'm back to the usual grind. But to save you from the whining and complaining, I'm going to jump straight into the events that transpired during the last weekend of my winter break. For the bf's birthday shindig, he decided on Bar 107 in downtown la... though it's embedded within one of the more sketchy parts of la, this ecclectic hipster dive bar brings in all sorts of personas, from hipsters to punk rockers to khaki wearing asians. Maybe it's the Pabst Blue Ribbon beer... or the black and white old school photobooth that we hogged the whole night next to the 10x10 dance floor. I provided a view of the decor behind the bar though it doesn't do justice to the interior designer they must've hired for the entire place. haha. The bf commented on the bright purple tights that I wore that night, but they fit right in with the apparent surroundings. I got them in London last year... they were soo soft and the color was perfect. And long cardigans just happen to be an overdone staple in my wardrobe. Though I'm pretty much back to donning my converses and jeans almost everyday and allowing Starbucks to eat my wallet... the key word is "almost." I'll be posting...

Santa Monica Boulevard on a Weekday

scarf, gift; jacket, Levi's; top, Zara

All the years that I've lived in LA, I never walked down Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood. We usually embark on eating at Tender Greens in Culver City until suddenly discovering that they had one in Weho. So another adventure was launched. After vacuuming a delicious hot plate into my mouth, we strolled around the pretty empty sidewalks. The cake shop was almost eerie with that cake in the window... so we got a close up. And the random angel wings were just calling my name to take a picture... cheesy maybe but fun nonetheless. And you just don't encounter magazine stands like that outside in la...Sorry for the slightly blurry pictures... the lack of lighting on the streets vs. too much flash, just wasn't cooperating that night. Anyway, the scarf was a xmas gift from my other sister...at first glance it kinda made me second guess how it would go with the rest of my closet. But the zebra + maroon leopard print somehow just puts the finishing touch on any outfit. I'm back in school in less than (*sigh*) 48 hours. Thank goodness for the upcoming three-day weekend.

Increase the Peace

cardigan, F21; t-shirt, gift

My tree-hugger sister gave me this cute t-shirt for xmas... she said the koala reminded her of when we were younger and I claimed it was my favorite animal... You can kinda make out the koala in the picture... It just so happened I went to trader joe's with it on and thought it was the perfect combo... organic food + going green tee. The message on the back is also fitting. On that note, we decided to skip eating out for once and put together a healthy dinner before we hit the gym. But of course, we didn't skip out on the green tea mochi ice cream and peppermint bark dark chocolate that went with it for dessert...

Happy New Year!

dress, Tricot Joli; shoes, Betsey Johnson; jacket, vintage Evan Piccone

Happy 2010! We ended up shmoozing at Katsuya in downtown LA Live next to the Staples Center for  nye... Unlimited alcohol and sushi is hardto say no to... Considering the situation of unlimited food and booze, we weren'treally focused on taking photos... as you can imagine.. there were minimal photo taking
opportunities... I keep forgetting to ask my sisters to email me the ones that they took... My bf was able to snag this unbelievably cute dress for the night out from tricot joli... I got compliments on it all night. We had endless champagne, my feet survived the heels and we cabbed it home. End result: it was a really good night.
